The Case for Pheasants - Wild Birds?

October 15, 2016 by

Are those pheasants you are shooting in South Dakota really wild?

Several years back I borrowed the term "Fair Chase" from the Boon and Crockett Club because so many outfitters in South Dakota, who were non-preserves, were putting birds out and telling their customers they were hunting "wild birds".

Recently I attended a South Dakota Department of Tourism sponsored conference on tourism.  In one of the seminars, the speaker boldly stated that one thing you should never do is lie to your customers.  I am not sure that many pheasant hunting visitors to the state have not been lied to. Customer doubt is never a good element to have when it comes to gaining return visitors.

You can judge for yourselves based on the excellent article from the Mitchell Daily Republic paper on this important topic.

I thought it so important that I am dedicating a special article in "The Case for Pheasants Series"  to it.
